Indian Women, More Confident about Carrier Proficiency

The most current research shows that Indian women are more assertive about their capabilities related to employment than men. ADP research revealed recently showed that while 40 per cent of Indian women are confident self to move up the ladder, only 36 per cent of men feel the same. This research shows that there has been an improvement in the aspect of women’s confidence at the workplace.

Perception of Employer Support

It also looked at how workers understand their employers’ investment decisions to build their skills. Cross tabulation of gender and organizational perceptions of investment identified that 37 percent of women expect there employer to invest in the skills required for career advancement, compared to 29 percent of men. This suggest that Indian women have a higher level of optimism about the support they get from the firm for their career advancement.

The global report examined 37593 working adults in 34 markets within the six continents. They pointed out that a mere 24% of the global employees are confident that they possess the appropriate skills to progress to the following job grade within the next year. In addition, only 17 percent strongly agreed with their statements that their employers are investing in skills for career advancement.

Recommendations and Findings of India

India situation is slightly better than that as more than 37 percent of the workers are secure with their skills for career advancement and approximately 32 percent think that their employer is devoted to their skill advancement. The report therefore clearly argues for companies having to focus on skill acquisition than having manpower to support the ever dynamic modern workplace.

ADP’s chief economist, Nela Richardson, said, “A skilled workforce is more loyal to their employers and more productive.” Still, the number of employers upskilling workers is relatively tiny, and only 2% increases the totality of credentials two years after the labor contract signing. She went on emphasizing the fact that workers should be given considerable investment to hone their skills and their career paths to allow development from future technologies.
