The Bhai-Bhai Group Provides Meals to Fasting Travelers at Wadi Station During Ramadan

During the sacred month of Ramzan, when many Muslims abstain from eating and drinking from sunrise to sunset, a heartwarming scene unfolds at the Wadi Railway junction on the Maharashtra-Karnataka border. Here, a dedicated group of volunteers clad in pristine white shirts eagerly await the arrival of trains, their hands laden with food parcels.

A Night of Compassion

As the trains pull in, these altruistic volunteers swiftly move across the platform, calling out to passengers observing the fast who might need a nourishing meal before the break of dawn. They extend an invitation for Suhoor, a pre-fast meal, to those in need, ensuring no fasting individual is overlooked.

Years of Service and Commitment

This tradition of benevolence marks the fifth consecutive year for the Bhai-Bhai volunteers, showcasing their unwavering dedication during the holy month of Ramzan. Their mission is clear: to provide sustenance and comfort to fasting passengers passing through the Wadi Junction at night.

A Network of Generosity

Led by Shamsher Ahmad, the Bhai-Bhai group employs various strategies to reach out to those in need. Utilising social media platforms, they inform travelers about their services and encourage meal bookings through phone calls, even accepting requests from passengers of diverse backgrounds.

Despite serving only vegetarian fare, the group’s commitment knows no bounds. They not only cater to train passengers but also extend their generosity to impoverished individuals residing near the Wadi Railway stations, spreading joy and nourishment in equal measure.

Through their selfless actions, Shamsher Ahmad, Mohammad Irfan, and their team of 72 dedicated volunteers exemplify the spirit of compassion and unity that defines the essence of Ramadan. Their efforts, from cooking multiple meals daily to ensuring timely food distribution, reflect a profound commitment to serving humanity during this auspicious month.
