Revamped Design for Muhammad Bin Abdullah Mosque in Ayodhya

The Muhammad Bin Abdullah Mosque in Dhanipur, Ayodhya, is being redesigned significantly from the initially planned ultra-modern structure. The updated plan includes five majestic minarets, visible from 11 kilometres, each representing the five pillars of Islam.

Visionary Leadership

Haji Arfat Shaikh, Chairman of the Muhammad Bin Abdullah Mosque Development Committee, unveiled the redesign, emphasizing the mosque’s significance as a unifying symbol for Indian Muslims and their pride in the nation. The mosque will boast the world’s largest copy of the Holy Quran and a monumental fish aquarium within its washroom area.

Mega Fundraising

The project’s funding will be sourced exclusively through online donations, reflecting the modern approach to community support. The foundation stone laying ceremony, anticipated in February-March, is set to be a grand event featuring 100 Sufi saints accompanied by bricks donated by the people of Mumbai.

Spiritual Journey

Haji Arfat Shaikh announced a unique procession involving 100 Sufi scholars departing from Mumbai via train for the foundation stone ceremony. Flowers will be showered, and perfume will be sprinkled on the donated bricks at every station during this spiritual journey.

Five Pillars Embodied in Architecture

The mosque’s distinctive feature lies in its five minarets, a first in India. Each minaret represents a pillar of Islam: Minar-e-kalma, Minar-e-Dua, Minar-e-Din, Minar-e-Zakat, and Minar-e-Haj. The design, akin to the Taj Mahal, aims to be a visual marvel visible from 11 kilometres away.

Community Engagement

Haji Arfat Shaikh, a multifaceted community leader, expressed openness to suggestions for continuous improvement. The goal is to create a space that resonates with the community’s needs and aspirations.

Expansive Vision

The proposed mosque in Dhanipur is not just a place of worship; it’s part of a larger complex. The site will host a cancer hospital, law college, dental college, international school, library, nursing home, and a langar (community kitchen).

Anticipation and Secrecy

Haji Arfat Shaikh tantalizingly keeps the name of the Old Age Home under wraps, promising that its revelation will be appreciated when the time comes.
