Spiritual Journey at Maha Kumbh Mela

The largest religious congregation Maha Kumbh Mela of the world has started with the ‘Shahi Snan’ on Paush Purnima and devotees from India and other countries have begun to flock to the Triveni Sangam of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. This sacred site, where the rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati meet, becomes a focal point for thousands seeking spiritual renewal during the Maha Kumbh Mela.

Devotees Brave the Cold

During the winter season, numerous foreigners are lavishing their interest and enthusiasm in the sacred river by taking bath in the water of a holy shower. One of the Brazilian visitors, Francisco, who is in India for his first time, thanked the organisers for making him be part of this holy event. People could cite different emotions but it was an amazing feeling to be here. The man said it all: “The water is cold, but my heart feels warm” before pointing out that he is searching for Moksha. He said, “India is the spiritual nerve centre of the globe” and said “It is my pleasure being connected with friends from Spain, Brazil, Portugal on Spiritual Yatra.”

A Global Celebration of Faith

The followers have also been taking time to share their experiences from all over the world. A visitor from Cape Town, South Africa said on a positive note that few things that he was amused with were the topicality and cleanliness of the streets added to the pleasant demeanour of the people. Nikki, another enthusiast from South Africa commented on the mighty power of the Ganga river, she felt privileged to be in this congregation.

For security reasons, there is police force security from Rapid Action Force, Police and Central Reserve Police Force on site. The Maha Kumbh Mela this year holds special significance, coinciding with a rare celestial alignment that happens only once every 144 years.

Concerning traffic management police, the police have arranged well for the flow of traffic, and car parking lots have been provided to manage the flow of traffic given the visitor’s traffic. This event not only guarantees the spiritual benefit to the people but also makes people appreciate the unity of the people of different races.
