PM Modi’s Role in Ram Lalla Consecration Ceremony

In the lead-up to the highly anticipated consecration process of Lord Ram Lalla at Ayodhya Dham on January 22, a malicious campaign has been unleashed, spreading misinformation and myths. Critics of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and opponents of the Ram Mandir construction have collaborated to fuel this misleading narrative.

Clarifying PM Modi’s Involvement

Contrary to the confusion created, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not act as the Yajman (host) during the Pran Pratishta rituals. Instead, he will partake in the cultural and temple inauguration ritual as a devoted follower of Lord Ram. Following an 11-day fast adhering to the ‘Yam Niyam (rules),’ PM Modi will enter the sanctum sanctorum, the temple Garbh Griha, as a distinguished guest on January 22.

Media Missteps and Controversies

Despite these clarifications, certain sections of the media, including disgruntled figures like BJP MP Subramanian Swamy, have perpetuated misleading statements. One contentious issue suggests that consecration cannot proceed until the temple is fully constructed.

The Truth Behind Consecration

Addressing this misconception, Surajeet Dasgupta, a seasoned journalist and Vedic Scriptures researcher, highlights that historical scriptures do not mandate a completed temple for consecration. Citing examples from various scriptures, Dasgupta asserts that the ritual can occur independently of the temple’s construction.

Ritual Commencement on January 16

The grand rituals for Ramlala Pran Pratishtha commenced in Ayodhya on January 16. Led by Pandit Laxmikant Mathuranath Dixit, an 86-year-old veteran of Vedic rituals, the ceremonies involve atonement, Godaan, Panch-Gavyaprashan, Dashdaan, and Karmakuti Homa.

Leading the Consecration

Pandit Dixit, hailing from a lineage that traces back to the renowned 17th-century priest Pandit Gaga Bhatt, will spearhead the pran pratishtha of the Ram Lalla idol. Coordinating the entire process is Acharya Ganesh Shastri Dravid, ensuring a seamless execution of rites from January 16 to 22.

Gathering of Devotees and Experts

A remarkable assembly of 120 acharyas and gurus, dedicated to sadhana, worship, and profound study of the Vedas and Upanishads, will participate in the primary worship of Ram Lalla. Notably, 40 priests from Kashi contribute to this sacred gathering in Ayodhya.
